The Story
The Magic Academy...an institution shrouded in mystery and secrets. People from all over the different empires want nothing more than to enroll, get their hands on the knowledge stored there, become those most respected in the world - mages. Tailyn Vlashich was one of the lucky few admitted without going through the entrance exams. And once inside, he had training, the arena, lessons, and an interesting take on what had happened over 3,000 years to look forward to, all capped off by a dynamic labyrinth that came with a chance to sit down with the provost. After all, that's who holds the key to the secret of the dragon's blood.
But how are you supposed to find time to study when your mentor has a problem he can't handle on his own? Once again, Tailyn faces a road very much unlike the noisy halls of the academy, with life itself reprising its role as his trusty teacher.
My Review
If book two built the foundation, book three said “screw it” and sprinted up the tower.
This instalment is all about hacking — Tailyn leans hard into the system manipulation, and it’s honestly brilliant. Watching him apply logic and loopholes to level up, solve problems, and outwit the opposition is exactly what I want from a LitRPG. It’s not just power for power’s sake — it’s earned, it’s strategic, and it’s incredibly satisfying to read.
The challenge of reviewing sequels is that you start to repeat yourself — but in this case, that’s part of the point. I didn’t stop after book one. Or two. I kept going without a pause, and that alone is the highest praise I can give. These books are compelling. Addictive. Smartly written and always moving forward.
By this point, we’re moving fast toward the top of the power curve, and honestly? I have no complaints. The world’s expanding, the systems are evolving, and I’m still fully on board with Tailyn’s journey. If the series keeps up this pace, we’re in for something seriously special.
