The Story

A leader dead. A complicated relationship lost. And a conglomerate angered...

After unwittingly becoming the CEO of the growing Silken Sands Affiliate, Tyson finds himself in an increasingly dangerous Arizonan desert, the protector of a growing community of Nu-Earth humans faced with the very real possibility of total corporate annihilation.

Dearth wants their land, and they will not take no for an answer. But behind Tyson stand a growing band of capable administrators and heroes, and a community of people who believe in him. He is their leader. They trust in him, even if he doesn't trust in himself.

Powerful multiversal forces are at play. Market upsets, brilliant purchases, and the invisible hand slide, slap, and strangle as the campaign for Arizona state rages, and Silken Sands digs in for a decisive battle.

This story features an amalgamation of Amazon, Walmart, every service fee, sales algorithm, membership perk, advertising jingo, Microsoft mascot, and insane discount that you have ever experienced in your life coupled with the madness of the multiverse, a dash of invisible hand monopolism, feudalism, straight-up cronyism, and LOTS of profanity. There is fantasy violence, base-building, tons of market loot, monsters, a dungeon, affiliate and credit levels, and progression.

BuyMort: Rise of the Window Puncher completes the How I Became the Accidental Warlord of Arizona story arc, but the Shopocalypse Saga will continue.

So things are moving along nicely in book 3. It’s quite a standard progression model for the genre, and with good reason. Book 1 develops our MC through struggle, book 2 develops the settlement and sets up what we need to do when the BBEG storms in and wrecks the place. And that’s right where we are. Book 3 in BUYMORT is where we see Tyson finally able to win some battles. Yes he’s been successful against the sleam and the yarsps, but the Dearth conglomerate have been built up to the point where they’re basically unbeatable - just like how we would expect the BBEG to be. New (anticipated) relationships happen in this book, and we see the end of the main story arc (as the story can technically be finished here), and it’s satisfying. The whole series is satisfying actually and one that I would describe as a hidden gem, up there with the best of them. I like the commercial side of this series too. The way the market can be manipulated - and crash - really made me think about what I’d be doing next. The spider farm arc I found to be one of the most interesting actually, and once again it seemed like it would be a get rich quick scheme, but turned out to need so much more nursing that first expected. I must admit, the ending had me worried. I’m not going to say what it was because of the spoiler it would present, but author - you know what you did. But also, thank you… All in all, books 1-3 are awesome, seriously. If you haven’t read BUYMORT yet, I highly recommend it!

My Review
